ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
Charter of Anne Arundel County and at the said general
election, the vote on the said proposed amendment to
the Charter shall be by ballot; and upon each ballot
there shall be printed the words "For the Charter
Amendment" and "Against the Charter Amendment". If a
majority of the votes cast in said election shall be
in favor of the proposed amendment, such amendment
shall stand adopted from and after the thirtieth
(30th) day following said election; but if a majority
of the votes cast in the election shall be against the
proposed amendment, then the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be null and void and of no effect.

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Charter of Anne Arundel
County, Maryland, by repealing and re—enacting,
with amendments, Section 307 (i) thereof, Article
III, "The Legislative Branch," to provide that an
emergency ordinance shall not create or expand
any capital project or increase the funding
thereof; and to submit said amendment to the
qualified voters of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, for their adoption or rejection.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 307(i) ,
Article III, "The Legislative Branch," of the Charter
of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, be and it is hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
307. LEGISLATIVE PROCEDURE
(i) Effective date of ordinances. Any ordinance
enacted by the County Council shall take effect
forty-five days after it becomes law, unless declared
to be effective on a later date. If an ordinance is
an emergency ordinance as defined in Section 208(d) or
if an ordinance passed at an annual legislative
session or a monthly legislative session—day be
declared by the County Council to be an emergency
ordinance necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health, safety and welfare, it shall
take effect from the date it becomes law. An
