SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
Ordinance shall take effect forty-five (45) days from
the date it becomes law, provided that the provisions
thereof shall be applied retroactively to the weekly
pay period [[next succeeding]] BEGINNING July 3, 1972
and to the bi-weekly pay period next succeeding June
30, 1972.

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Charter of Anne Arundel
County, Maryland, by repealing and re—enacting,
with amendments, Section 204 thereof, Article II,
"The County Council", to increase the
compensation of the members of the County
Council; to submit said amendment to the
qualified voters of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland; for their adoption or rejection; and
matters generally related thereto.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
OF ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 204,
Article II, "The County Council", of the Charter of
Anne Arundel County, Maryland, be, and it is hereby
repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

Section 204. Compensation

Each member of the County Council (EXCEPT THE
CHAIRMAN) shall be paid for the performance of his
duties as provided in this Charter [[the A sum of
Twenty-One Hundred Dollars ($2,100.00) per annum EQUAL
TO TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT (25%) OF THE ANNUAL SALARY OF
THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE AS OF THE TIME OF THE GENERAL
ELECTION; AND THE CHAIRMAN SHALL RECEIVE A SUM EQUAL
TO FORTY PERCENT (40%) OF SAID SALARY]] THE SUM OF SIX
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,000.00) PER ANNUM, AND THE
CHAIRMAN SHALL BE PAID THE SUM OF SEVEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($7,000.00) PER ANNUM. Such salary shall be
in full compensation for all services required by law
or by this Charter to be performed by the members of
