MANCHESTER                                         2307

Resolution of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Manchester, Maryland, to
direct the Town Clerk to number the sections of the Charter of the Town of
Manchester to follow the numbering of the sections of the model charter found in
Article 23B of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of Manchester that the Charter
of the Town of Manchester be numbered to follow and coincide with the
numbering of the model charter embodied in Article 23B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Department of Legislative Reference of the State of Maryland.

CHARTER AMENDMENT
RESOLUTION NO. 4-72

RESOLUTION of the Mayor and Council of Manchester, Maryland, adopted
pursuant to the authority of Article 11-E of the Constitution of the State of
Maryland, and Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
entitled "Corporations—Municipal", as that Section was enacted by Chapter 423 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, 1955, entitled, "A
RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF
MANCHESTER, BY REPEALING SECTION 34 AND ENACTING NEW
SECTION 34 IN LIEU THEREOF TO STAND IN PLACE OF THE
SECTION REPEALED, TO ALTER THE TIME OF ELECTION OF THE
MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN."

SECTION 1: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF
MANCHESTER, THAT SECTION 34 OF THE TOWN CHARTER OF
MANCHESTER. IS HEREBY REPEALED AND NEW SECTION 34
READING AS FOLLOWS:

ON THE SECOND TUESDAY IN MAY, OF 1973, THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE TOWN SHALL ELECT THREE PERSONS TO SERVE
AS COUNCILMEN FOR THE TERM OF FOUR YEARS. AND ON THE
SECOND TUESDAY IN MAY, IN 1975, THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF
THE TOWN SHALL ELECT ONE PERSON AS MAYOR AND TWO
PERSONS AS COUNCILMEN TO SERVE FOR TERMS OF FOUR
YEARS. THERE SHALL BE AN ELECTION HELD IN .EACH ODD
NUMBERED YEAR, BEGINNING IN 1977, AND THE QUALIFIED
VOTERS OF THE TOWN SHALL ELECT ALTERNATELY THREE
PERSONS TO SERVE AS COUNCILMEN, AND ONE MAYOR AND
TWO PERSONS TO SERVE AS COUNCILMEN.

SECTION 2: AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the repeal and
re-enactment of Section 34 of the Town of Manchester is amended and the
date of the passage of this Resolution is October 10, 1972, and the amendment to
the Charter of the Town of Manchester, hereby enacted, shall become effective on
