petition, and

WHEREAS, the provisions of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition,
1966 Replacement Volume, as amended), Article 23-A, Section 19 (c), entitled
"Corporations-Municipal," subtitled "Annexation," make it mandatory to
introduce the following Resolution proposing the change of boundaries as
requested by the Petitions:

NOW, THEREFORE, on this day, 24 August, 1972, upon motion of
Councilman Eckman, duly seconded, the following Resolution be and it is hereby
introduced and the Town Manager is instructed to cause a public notice of said
Resolution to be published not fewer than four times at not less than weekly
intervals in a newspaper or newspapers of general circulation in the Town of La
Plata and the area to be annexed, said notice to specify that a public hearing will
be held on the Resolution before the Council of the Town of La Plata and the La
Plata Planning Commission in the Town Hall at 8:30 P.M., or as soon thereafter
as it may be heard, on the Tenth day of October, 1972.

CHARTER AMENDMENT RESOLUTION NUMBER 72-2

A CHARTER AMENDMENT RESOLUTION of the Council of the Town of
La Plata adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 11-E of the Constitution of
Maryland, Article 23-A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition, 1966
Replacement Volume, as amended), and Article 66-B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition, 1967 Replacement Volume, as amended), to amend the
Charter of the Town of La Plata, as set forth in Sections 234 to 334 inclusive, of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1969 Edition, being Article 9 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), as amended, by adding new Section
236-B thereto providing for the enlarging of the corporate boundaries of the Town
of La Plata.

SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of La Plata that
it is proposed to add a new section to the Charter of the Town of La Plata, said
new section to be known as Section 2-6 thereof ( and as Section 236-B of the Code
of the Public Local Laws of Charles County, 1969 Edition, as amended, being
Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), to provide for the
enlarging of the corporate boundaries of the Town of La Plata,

SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of La
Plata that the Charter of said municipal corporation be and the same is hereby
amended by adding new Section 2-C thereto, to follow immediately after Section 2-B,
and to amend the Charter of said municipal corporation as set forth in Sections 234
to 334, inclusive, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1969 Edition,
being Article 9 of Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), as amended, as follows,
extending the boundaries of the Town of La Plata to include the following described
parcel of ground: A parcel of ground containing 369.02 acres as described in Liber
113, Folio 477, being the same tract as parcel 61 as shown en the tax map at page
44, and the same tract as shown on a plat prepared by D.H. Steffens, Surveyor,
dated 6/24/23.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all of the territory
hereby annexed into the Town of La Plata be zoned R-1 (Single-Family
Residential) after the effective date of this resolution until such zoning is amended
as provided by law.
