(Senate Joint Resolution 63)
Senate Joint Resolution expressing the concern of the Maryland General Assembly
over the rapid rise of [[food]] ALL prices and urging the President and the
Congress of the United States to take prompt corrective measures.
WHEREAS, The rate of inflation as measured by wholesale prices reached its
highest point since 1951 during the month of February, 1973; and
WHEREAS, [[Farm products and]] wholesale [[ [[ ]] [[food]] AND
RETAIL prices led the way upward as they have for months; and
WHEREAS, The rate of inflation for wholesale prices during the month of
February, 1973, adjusted for seasonal fluctuations in the overall wholesale price
index works out to an annual inflation rate of 19.2%; and
WHEREAS, The U.S. Department of Labor has declared that [(wholesale
farm and]] food prices for February, 1973, were 19.1% above the February, 1972,
rate; and
WHEREAS, It is recognized that these prices are affected by many factors
including production costs, labor, packaging, transportation, corporate profits.
taxes and others; and
WHEREAS, The rate of inflation and the rise in [[food]] ALL prices has been
quickening; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
President and the Congress of the United States be aware of the concern of this
body over the rapid rise of [[food]] ALL prices and that this Body urge the
President to take prompt corrective measures; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate be requested to send one copy
of this Resolution to the Honorable Richard M. Nixon, President of the United

Senate Joint Resolution requesting the President of the Senate and the Speaker of
the House of Delegates to appoint a Committee consisting of members of the
General Assembly and other to study the feasibility of Administrative
Adjudication and the transfer of parking and minor traffic violations from the
District Court to administrative agencies.
WHEREAS, The President of the United States and the Chief Justice of the
Supreme Court recommended to the National Conference on the Judiciary to
"clear the courts of the endless stream of victimless crimes that get in the way of
