serve for a period of four (4) years, one for a period of three (3) years, one for a
period of two (2) years and one for a period of one (1) year, and as terms expire
the County Commissioners shall fill the vacancy and such appointee shall serve for
a period of four (4) years provided that should there be a vacancy prior to the
expiration of a term, the Commissioners shall fill said vacancy for the unexpired
term]; three representative citizens of the county, one to be appointed by each
elected representative of St. Mary's County in the General Assembly of Maryland.
The Commission shall be bi-racial in composition and the selecting groups and
organizations shall give consideration of this factor in selecting their
representatives to serve on the Commission. The members of the Commission, not
appointed by the County Commissioners, shall serve for terms of four years each
from June 1, 1963, and all members shall serve without compensation, and the
Commission shall file with the County Commissioners no less than annually a
comprehensive report covering its activities. One member shall serve for a period
of four (4) years, one for a period of three (3) years, one for a period of two (2)
years and one for a period of one (1) year, and as terms expire the County
Commissioners shall fill the vacancy and such appointee shall serve for a period of
four (4) years provided that should there be a vacancy prior to the expiration of a
term, the Commissioners shall fill said vacancy for the unexpired term.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 825
(House Bill 981)

AN ACT to add new Section 234A(c) to Article 48A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance Code," subtitle "Unfair
Trade Practices," to follow immediately after Section 234A(b) thereof, to
provide that no insurer, agent or broker shall make any inquiry as to race,
creed, color, or national origin in any insurance form, questionnaire or other
manner of general information which would pertain to any application for
insurance.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 234A(c) be and it is hereby added to Article 48A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Replacement Volume), title "Insurance
Code," subtitle "Unfair Trade Practices," to follow immediately after Section
234A(b) thereof, and to read as follows:

234A.

(C) NO INSURER, AGENT OR BROKER SHALL MAKE ANY
INQUIRY AS TO RACE, CREED, COLOR, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN
ANY INSURANCE FORM, QUESTIONNAIRE OR OTHER MANNER OF
GENERAL INFORMATION WHICH WOULD PERTAIN TO ANY
APPLICATION FOR INSURANCE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
