INCOME ON FORMS SUPPLIED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS [[, COUNTY COUNCIL OR MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE CITY]] AND SIGNED BY THE RECIPIENT
OF THE TAX CREDIT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 793
(House Bill 649)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments Section 11-703(a) of Article
66-1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and
1972 Supplement), title "Vehicle Laws," subtitle "11. Rules of the Road,"
subheading "Part VII. Special Stops Required," to require the drivers of
church-owned or church-operated buses to stop at all railroad grade crossings.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11-703(a) of Article 66-1/2 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Vehicle
Laws," subtitle "11. Rules of the Road," subheading "Part VII. Special Stops
Required," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

11-703.

(a) The driver of any motor vehicle carrying passengers for hire, or of any
[[school bus OR OF ANY BUS OWNED OR OPERATED BY A CHURCH
WHEN THE BUSES ARE carrying any school child OR OF ANY
CHURCH-OWNED BUS]], PASSENGER OR PASSENGERS or of any
vehicle carrying explosive substances or flammable liquids as a cargo or part of a
cargo, before crossing at grade any track or tracks of a railroad, shall stop the
vehicle within 50 feet but not less than 15 feet from the nearest rail of the railroad
and while so stopped shall listen and look in both directions along the track for
any approaching train, and for signals indicating the approach of a train, except as
hereinafter provided, and shall not proceed until he can do so safely. After
stopping as required herein and upon proceeding when it is safe to do so the driver
of the vehicle shall cross only in such gear of the vehicle that there will be no
necessity for changing gears while traversing such crossing and the driver shall not
shift gears while crossing the track or tracks.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
