CHAPTER 747
(House Bill 31)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70-1(p) of Article 26
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971
Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Juvenile Causes," amending the laws
concerning juvenile causes to include in the status of "Protective supervision,"
the "neglected" and "dependent" child.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 70-1(p) of Article 26 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Courts,"
subtitle "Juvenile Causes," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
70-1.
(p) "Protective supervision" means a status created by a court order in
proceedings whereby a minor is adjudicated NEGLECTED OR DEPENDENT
OR in need of supervision or as mentally handicapped.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 280(c) of Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Revenue and
Taxes," subtitle "Income Tax," to -provide that the amount to be subtracted
from adjusted gross income of persons 65 or older received under a retirement
system shall not exceed [[the amount received]] a certain average annual
amount received in Maryland under Social Security and Railroad Retirement
Acts for the prior calendar year [[;]] , reduced by the amount received under
the Social Security Act, Railroad Retirement Act or both for all taxable years
ending after December 31, 1972.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 280(c) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "Income Tax,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as
follows:
