The County Commissioners shall [appoint] EMPLOY a Clerk, who shall hold
his office for two years from the date of his [appointment] EMPLOYMENT and
until the qualification of his successor. He shall be subject to removal from said
office for inefficiency or for any willful neglect of duty or misbehavior in office, at
any time, by said County Commissioners who shall have power to [appoint]
EMPLOY some competent person for the unexpired term of said Clerk so
removed, and said County Commissioners shall be the sole judge as to the
inefficiency or willful neglect of duty or misbehavior of said Clerk. Said Clerk,
before entering upon the duties of his office, shall give bond to the State of
Maryland in the penalty of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), to be approved by the
County Commissioners, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of
his office, which bond shall be recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Garrett County, and shall take and subscribe, before one of the County
Commissioners, an oath that he will honestly and faithfully, to the best of his skill
and judgment, execute the duties of said office. The said Clerk shall be in charge
of the office of the County Commissioners, shall perform the duties pertaining to
his office and such other duties as may be prescribed by the County
Commissioners or imposed by law, and shall have full power to administer an oath
or affirmation to any and all persons who are to be examined as witnesses in any
matter before the County Commissioners, and touching or relating to any account,
bill or other matter to be filed in the office of said County Commissioners. Said
Clerk shall receive an annual salary not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00).

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

(House Bill 1507)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 30(c) of the Code of
Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," subtitle
"County Commissioners," to provide for the County Commissioners to budget
all necessary administrative expenses of the Human Relations Commission.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 30(c) of the Code of Public Local Laws of St.
Mary's County (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "St. Mary's County," subtitle "County Commissioners," is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

30.

(c) The County Commissioners are authorized to provide all administrative
support to the Commission necessary to properly effectuate the provisions of this
section, and to annually appropriate [to this end an amount not exceeding two
hundred dollars ($200.00)] IN THE COUNTY BUDGET THE AMOUNT
SUFFICIENT FOR THIS PURPOSE.
