CHAPTER 619
(House Bill 1283)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2-102 of Article 21 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Interim Supplement), "Real Property,"
title "Statute of Frauds," changing the Statute of Frauds as it relates to
leasehold estates.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-102 of Article 21 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Interim Supplement), "Real Property," title "Statute of Frauds,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-102.
Section 2-101 is not applicable to leasehold estates not exceeding the term of
[three years] ONE YEAR [[from the making thereof]].
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 620
(House Bill 1284)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 402(a) and (b) of
Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and
1971 Supplement), title "Corporations", subtitle "Particular Classes of
Corporations", subheading "Electric Cooperatives", to add any other financing
institution to those institutions the Board of Directors may execute mortgages
to in order to secure indebtedness; and to more explicitly provide for notice to
members of meetings at which a majority can authorize sale, lease or disposal
of cooperative property; and to delete mortgages or encumbrances from the
members' authority.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 402(a) and (b) of Article 23 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title
"Corporations", subtitle "Particular Classes of Corporations", subheading
"Electric Cooperatives", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
