CHAPTER 573
(House Bill 852)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9 of Article 25 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume), title "County
Commissioners," subtitle "General Provisions," eliminating provision against
condemnation in acquiring property for public purposes.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 9 of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "General
Provisions," is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

9.

The County Commissioners of Dorchester County, in addition to, but not in
substitution of, the powers which may have been or may hereafter be granted
them, shall have the full power and authority to acquire by lease, [or] purchase,
[but not by 1 OR condemnation, real or leasehold property needed for any public
purpose, and to erect buildings thereon for the benefit of the county, and to sell at
public sale any real or leasehold property belonging to the county when in their
discretion it is no longer needed for public use, and to execute and acknowledge
any and all deeds and/or other instruments necessary to effect and complete such
lease, purchase or sale of real or leasehold property.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 574
(House Bill 857)

AN ACT to add new Sections [[345C, 345D, and 345E]] 345C and 345D to
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume
and 1972 Supplement), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Forests and Parks,"
to follow immediately after Section 345B thereof, to designate [[two areas]] an
area in Garrett County, Maryland as "State Wildlands," [[both areas]]
containing approximately 2,000 acres and being designated as Type 1 Wildlands;
and providing generally for the application of and procedures for these
designations.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Sections 345C [[345D, and 345E]] and 345D be and
they are hereby added to Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Natural Resources," subtitle
"Forests and Parks," to follow immediately after Section 345B thereof, and all to
read as follows:
