CHAPTER 543
(House Bill 492)

AN ACT to add new Section 3-104[[(e)]] (d) to Article 93 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title
"Decedents' Estates," subtitle "Intestate Succession and Statutory Shares,"
subheading "Intestate Succession," to follow immediately after Section 3-104(d)
thereof, to provide a distribution to stepchildren or the issue of any deceased
stepchildren before the net estate shall be paid to the Board of Education.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 3-104[[(e)]] (d) be and it is hereby added to
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and
1972 Supplement), title "Decedents' Estates," subtitle "Intestate Succession and
Statutory Shares," subheading "Intestate Succession," to read as follows:

3-104.

[[(E)]] (D) IF THERE IS NO SURVIVING BLOOD RELATION
ENTITLED TO INHERIT UNDER THIS SECTION, TO THE LIVING
STEPCHILDREN OF THE DECEDENT BORN TO ANY LEGAL SPOUSE
OF THE DECEDENT WHO WAS NOT DIVORCED FROM [[HIM]] THE.
DECEDENT. EQUALLY, AND TO THE LIVING CHILDREN OF ANY
SUCH STEPCHILDREN WHO PREDECEASED THE [[DECENDENT]]
DECEDENT. WHO SHALL EQUALLY DIVIDE THE SHARE THEIR
DECEASED PARENT WOULD HAVE RECEIVED HAD [[HE]] THE
STEPCHILD SURVIVED THE DECEDENT. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SUBSECTION SHALL TAKE EFFECT JULY 1, 1973 AND APPLY TO ALL
ESTATES NOT CLOSED AS OF JULY 1, 1973.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973[[, and apply to all estates not closed as of said date]].

CHAPTER 544
(House Bill 506)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36E(g) of Article 27 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Handguns," to
require the Handgun Permit Review Board to submit in writing 11, upon the
written demand of a person aggrieved by the Board's action, 11 reasons why the
Board has rejected an application for a handgun permit or renewal of a
handgun permit or the revocation or limitation of a permit.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 36E(g) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1972 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Crimes
and Punishments," subheading "Handguns," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
