(Senate Bill 1018)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 5.2 (K)(2) of Chapter
425 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1971, amending the
General Construction Loan of 1971, with particular reference to an
appropriation therein for the renovation of Silvester Hall on the College Park
Campus of the University of Maryland, substituting therefor an appropriation
to the University of Maryland for the razing and demolition of Silvester Hall;
an appropriation for plans and detailed specifications for a facility to house the
College of Human Ecology; and an appropriation for the preparation of plans
and detailed specifications to renovate Marie Mount Hall [[.]]; waiving the
provisions of Section 10 of Chapter 425 of the Acts of 1971, this section relating
to the time by which projects contained in the General Construction Loan of
1971 must be placed under contract, insofar as the provisions of this section
relate to the items contained in Section 5.2(K)(2)(d) of said General
Construction Loan, redesignated as Section 5.2(K)(2)(d), (e) and (f) by this Act,
razing and demolition of Silvester Hall, preparation of plans and specifications
for a facility to be used by The College of Human Ecology, preparation of plans
and specifications to renovate Marie Mount Hall; and to extend for two years
the period during which these items may be placed under contract.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 5.2(K)(2) of Chapter 425 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1971 be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

(a)    To supplement the appropriation
"Planning and preparation of de-
tailed plans and specifications

for construction of an Office-
Classroom Building....." as shown
on page 1017 of the Acts of 1969;
Section 8 of Chapter 409 of the
Acts of 1969 being hereby modified
to the extent that said work may
begin upon the satisfactory assur-
ances to the Board of Public Works
that said project can be completed
with the aggregate of the funds
herein and heretofore appropriated

(b)    Construction of a Biochemistry Re-
search Building, including air con-

(c)    Renovation and modification of En-
gineering Laboratory Building, in-
