CHAPTER 462
(Senate Bill 947)

AN ACT to add new Section 53(7) to Article 2B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"General Provisions on Issue of Licenses," to follow immediately after Section
53 (6) thereof, to provide that no alcoholic beverage license, except by way of
renewal, shall be transferred or issued to chain stores, supermarkets, discount
houses or their franchisees, or concessionaires in Prince George's County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 53(7) be and the same is hereby added to Article
2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title
"Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "General Provisions On Issue of Licenses," to
follow immediately after Section 53(6) thereof, and to read as follows:

(7) IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE
LICENSE WITH AN OFFSALE PRIVILEGE OF ANY CLASS, EXCEPT BY
WAY OF RENEWAL, SHALL BE TRANSFERRED OR ISSUED TO ANY
BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TYPE COMMONLY KNOWN AS
CHAIN STORES, SUPERMARKETS, DISCOUNT HOUSES OR THEIR
FRANCHISORS AND FRANCHISEES OR CONCESSIONAIRES[[.]]
EXCEPT, HOWEVER, THAT THOSE ESTABLISHMENTS HOLDING AN
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE AT THE TIME OF ENACTMENT OF
THIS SECTION MAY CONTINUE TO HOLD SUCH LICENSE AND
MAY, AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD OF LICENSE
COMMISSIONERS, CHANGE THE CLASSIFICATION OF THEIR
LICENSE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 463

(Senate Bill 962)

AN ACT to repeal Section 323 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "State Board of Barber
Examiners," and to enact new Section 323 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place
of the section repealed, to define the practicing of the occupation of a barber.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 323 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title "Health," subtitle "State Board of
Barber Examiners," be and it is hereby repealed, and that new Section 323 be and
it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section repealed,
and to read as follows:
