CHAPTER 168
(House Bill 1089)
AN ACT to add new Section 26C to Article 36 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supple-
ment), title "Fees of Officers," subtitle "Sheriffs," to follow im-
mediately after Section 26B thereof, to increase the fees that may
be charged and collected by the Sheriff of Somerset County for cer-
tain actions and services.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 26C be and it is hereby added to Article 36 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1971
Supplement), title "Fees of Offers," subtitles "Sheriffs," to follow
immediately after Section 26B thereof and to read as follows:
26C.
(a) The Sheriff of Somerset County may charge and collect these
fees:
(1) For any action or service which involves only the serving
of a paper and is not an act of execution or attachment, a fee of
$4.00.
(2) For any action or service which includes an act of execution
or attachment, involving a seizure or a taking into custody of any
property, real or personal, or of any person, a fee of $8.00. If the
sheriff incurs any actual expenses for the purpose of conserving and
protecting property seized, he shall be entitled to reimbursement
for such expenditures.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 555 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and
Punishments," subheading "Taxicabs," to provide that this Sec-
tion shall also apply to Somerset County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 555 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Taxicabs," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as
follows:
