The county commissioners are authorized and directed to an-
nually levy on the assessable property of the County the sum of not
less than $2,500 for each Frederick County Fire Company which has
been approved and recognized by the Frederick County Firemen's
Association and the Board of County Commissioners, and the sum
of not less than $650 for the following bordering county fire depart-
ments:
(a) Union Bridge Fire Company.
(b) Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Company.
(c) Blue Ridge Summit Fire Company.
(d) Mount Airy Fire Company.
Such sums shall be applied by the respective companies for their
maintenance and support.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 1020)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 337 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Worcester County (1961 Edition,
being Article 24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Worcester County," subtitle "Sheriff," to change the amount
paid to the sheriff of Worcester County for the boarding of
prisoners.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 337 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Worcester
County (1961 Edition, being Article 24 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Worcester County," subtitle "Sheriff," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
337.
The Sheriff of Worcester County shall be allowed and the County
Commissioners of Worcester County shall be required to pay [the
sum of One Dollar ($1.00)] such sum as necessary per day for
boarding and keeping each prisoner committed to his custody. For
every prisoner who is working on the public roads of the county,
and during the period of such work, there shall be an additional
charge for board and keep in the amount of sixty cents (60¢) each
day. It shall be the duty of the Sheriff to keep a book at the County
Jail in which he shall keep a correct and full statement or schedule
of all prisoners committed to his custody, showing by what authority,
the offense charged, the time received and the time of discharge,
