725.

All prisoners working upon the roads or streets under Sections
719 to 726, shall be entitled to the same deductions or allowances
for good behavior, observance of discipline and rules and for diligent
and faithful labor, and shall be subject to the same forfeitures or
punishments for the lack or violation thereof, as such prisoners
are now entitled to or are subject to under the laws of this State [;
and in addition to such forfeitures or punishments, any prisoner
employed on road work under Sections 719 to 726 who escapes or
attempts to escape, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be
confined for an additional term, in the discretion of the court, not
exceeding one half of the entire term for which such prisoner had
been sentenced prior to his escape or attempted escape; or such
prisoner shall, in the discretion of the court, be subject to any
penalties which may be by law provided for prisoners escaping or
attempting to escape from the institution to which he had pre-
viously been committed].

Any convict escaping or attempting to escape shall on conviction
before a justice of the peace or before the circuit court of the county
in which the offense was committed or before the Criminal Court of
Baltimore City, be adjudged guilty of a misdemeanor and be sen-
tenced to imprisonment in the institution to which he had been
previously sentenced for a term not less than three months nor for
more than one half of the entire term for which he had been sentenced
prior to his escape or effort to escape in the discretion of the court.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted,, That this Act shall not apply
to any escape occurring prior to July 1, 1972.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 122
(House Bill 197)

AN ACT to add new Section 45 to Article 10 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement),
title "Attorneys At Law And Attorneys In Fact," to follow im-
mediately after Section 44 thereof, to be under the new subtitle
"Termination of Appearance," providing for the termination of
the appearance of an attorney at law in civil and criminal cases
after the appeal time has expired and the case is closed.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 45 be and it is hereby added to Article 10 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1971
Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law And Attorneys In Fact," to
follow immediately after Section 44 thereof, to be under the new
subtitle "Termination of Appearance," and to read as follows:
