add new Section 71-61A to the Montgomery County Code, (being
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Montgomery County," subtitle "Washington Suburban Sanitary
District," to follow immediately after Section 71-61 thereof, to
provide that the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission may
make substantial additions to its headquarters facilities at 4017
Hamilton Street in Hyattsville only if the local governing body of
Prince George's County authorizes the additions by a duly en-
acted ordinance. APPROVAL BY THE GOVERNING BODIES
OF PRINCE GEORGE'S AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES
SHALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF
ANY NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING OF THE WASH-
INGTON SUBURBAN SANITARY COMMISSION OR ANY
SUBSTANTIAL ADDITION TO AN EXISTING ADMINISTRA-
TION BUILDING.
Whereas, The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission has
indicated its intention to make substantial additions to its present
headquarters facilities in the City of Hyattsville; and
Whereas, The City Council of the City of Hyattsville has stated
its objections to the construction; and
Whereas, The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission ap-
pears to have the authority to ignore the wishes of the citizens of.
the City of Hyattsville; and
Whereas, The City of Hyattsville is planning an Urban Renewal
Project and has made the suggestion that the Washington Suburban
Sanitary Commission move its facilities; and
Whereas, This autonomous agency is in a position to ignore the
desires of the City of Hyattsville; and
Whereas, It is desirable to subordinate the autonomy of the Wash-
ington Suburban Sanitary Commission to the powers of the local
governing body of Prince George's County in this instance; now,
therefore, be it
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 83-112A be and it is hereby added to the CODE
OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
(1963 EDITION, BEING ARTICLE 17 OF THE Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County," subtitle
"Washington Suburban Sanitary District," to follow immediately
after Section 83-112 thereof, and to add new Section 71-61A to the
Montgomery County Code (being Article 16 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery County," subtitle
"Washington Suburban Sanitary District," to follow immediately
after Section 71-61 thereof, and to read as follows:

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission may make sub-
stantial additions to its headquarters facilities at 4017 Hamilton
Street, Hyattsville, Maryland, only if the local governing body of
Prince George's County authorizes the additions by a duly enacted
ordinance.
