MENCING WITH AND INCLUDING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE
TAXABLE YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1972; EXCEPT THAT
WITH RESPECT TO THE TAXABLE YEAR BEGINNING JULY
1, 1972, THE DATE OF FINALITY PROVIDED FOR IN AR-
TICLE 81, SECTION 29A OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF
MARYLAND SHALL BE EXTENDED TO JULY 31, 1972 FOR
PROPERTY SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT.
SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT IF ANY
PROVISION OF THIS ACT OR THE APPLICATION THEREOF
TO ANY PERSON OR CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL BE HELD
INVALID, SUCH INVALIDITY SHALL NOT AFFECT OTHER
PROVISIONS OR APPLICATIONS THEREOF WHICH CAN BE
GIVEN EFFECT WITHOUT THE INVALID PROVISION OR
APPLICATION.
Sec. 2. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1972.

(House Bill 930)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 23(a)
SECTIONS 22(A) AND 23(A) AND (B) of Article 88B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supplement), title "State
Police," subtitle "Police and Civilian Employees," to generally
revise the salary structure of employees of the Maryland State
Police.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 23(a) SECTIONS 22(A) AND 23(A) AND (B) of
Article 88B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supplement),
title "State Police," subtitle "Police and Civilian Employees," be and
it is THEY ARE hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
22.
(A) [EACH EMPLOYEE] FROM AND AFTER JANUARY 1,
1972, ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE [DEPARTMENT] MARYLAND
STATE POLICE, INCLUDING POLICE EMPLOYEES, SHALL
RECEIVE SUCH SALARY, INCLUDING ANY INCREMENT
BASED UPON LENGTH OF SERVICE, AS [MAY NOW OR
HEREAFTER BE PRESCRIBED IN THE BUDGET FOR THE
RANK OR CIVILIAN CLASSIFICATION HELD BY SUCH PER-
SON] IS PROVIDED IN SECTION 23 OF THIS ARTICLE.
23.
(a) Salaries as referred to in Section 22(a) shall be paid to
police employees in accordance with rank and length of service at the
following rates as established July 1, 1967:
