duly named by him on his election form, pension payments in the
amount payable to the member or other lesser option deemed reason-
able by the County Personnel Board but not less than ten percent
(10%) of the amount payable to the member with a minimum of one
hundred twenty-five ($125.00) dollars per month, whichever the mem-
ber has elected, which will be paid to the beneficiary throughout his
lifetime.
Sec. 6. Section 69(a)(2) title "Vesting," of Section 69, title
"Vesting and Withdrawal Benefits," of Chapter 94, Montgomery
County Code, 1965, is hereby amended as follows:
(a) "Vesting." (2) For any member retiring on or after May
1, 1970, to receive a retirement pension, beginning on the first of the
month coinciding with or next following his sixtieth birthday, or
other normal retirement date, which will be provided in the follow-
ing manner:

Sec. 7. Effective date.
This Act shall take effect on the 76th day following its enactment.

CHAPTER 40
(BILL NO. 65-70)
AN ACT to amend Section 94-70(b) of Article II, title "Employees'
Retirement System of Montgomery County," of Chapter 94,
title "Personnel," of the Montgomery County Code 1965, as
amended, to provide a monthly benefit for the spouse and children
of a member of the retirement system whose death is the result
of injuries sustained in line of duty, which benefit shall be in
addition to any social security benefits, and establishing the
conditions for such benefit.
Be It Enacted by the County Council for Montgomery County,
Maryland, that—
Sec. 1. Section 94-70(b), title "Spouse's and children's benefits
of a member whose death is service connected," of Chapter 94, Mont-
gomery County Code, 1965, as amended, is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(b) "Spouse's and children's benefits of a member whose death
is service connected." If a member dies, on or after October 1, 1970,
while in the service of the County and proof satisfactory to the
County Personnel Board is received that his death was the result
of injuries sustained in the line of duty or was directly attributable
