ARTICLE V. Standards and Requirements for Electrical

Installations.

83-50. Generally

(a)    All electrical equipment and installations thereof shall be
reasonably safe to persons and property and in conformity with the
provisions of this Article.

(b)    The standards and requirements of this Article and the
National Electrical Code hereinafter adopted are hereby declared to
be minimum standards and requirements, and any electrical equip-
ment or installation which is equal or superior to such standards and
requirements shall be deemed to be in compliance therewith.

(c)    Except as otherwise provided in this Article, conformity of
installations of electrical equipment with the regulations set forth in
the National Electrical Code, 1968 edition, hereinafter adopted, shall
be prima facie evidence that such installations are reasonably safe to
persons and property.

83-51. National Electrical Code—Adopted.

The National Electrical Code, 1968 edition, including appendices
thereto published by the National Fire Protection Association, 60
Battery-March Street, Boston, Massachusetts, is hereby adopted
and incorporated herein by reference as if such code were fully set
forth. A copy of the 1968 edition of the National Electrical Code is
attached to the signed original of this Act and enrolled therewith in
the Legislative Journal of the County Council for Montgomery
County, Maryland, maintained by the Secretary of the Council, and
open to inspection during regular business hours.

83-52. Same—Amendment.

Amendments to the National Electrical Code 1968 as may be
promulgated by the National Fire Protection Association may be
adopted by the County Council by law or may be adopted by the
County Executive by written regulation in accordance with the pro-
cedure prescribed by law.

Such regulations shall have the force and effect of law.
83-53. Same—Conflict.

Whenever the provisions of this Chapter and the provisions of
the National Electrical Code adopted by this Chapter shall be in
conflict, the provisions of this Chapter shall govern.

83-54. Article 100 Amended.

Article 100 of the 1968 National Electrical Code adopted by this
Chapter is hereby amended to include among the words and phrases
therein the following:
