thousand sixty-five feet to a concrete monument; thence South 53 de-
grees 50 minutes east one thousand two hundred seventy-five feet to a
point in the West Virginia-Maryland State line on the southerly bank of the
Potomac River; thence with the West Virginia-Maryland State Line down-
stream with the meanders of the Potomac River approximately four thou-
sand three hundred feet to the point of beginning

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS it is necessary for the Town of Westernport to acquire
by conveyance, purchase, or gift, real or leasehold property for various
public purposes; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the said Town be empowered to dis-
pose of real or leasehold property when the same is no longer needed for
public use; and
WHEREAS, the first section of the Town Charter (Article 1, Section
632 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County) does not con-
tain such authority nor does it establish a procedure for the disposing of
real and leasehold property no longer needed for public purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Commissioners deem it necessary and
in the public interest to amend the Charter for such purposes,
Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Commissioners
of Westernport, sitting as a legislative body, pursuant to the provisions
of Article 23A, Section 13 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edi-
tion), that the City Charter be amended by the enactment of the follow-
ing amendment to be known as Section 632A of Article 1 (1963 Edition)
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County and to read as follows:
"The Mayor and Commissioners may acquire by conveyance, pur-
chase, or gift, real or leasehold property for any public purposes; to erect
buildings and structures thereon for the benefit of the town and its inhabi-
tants; and to convey any real or leasehold property when no longer needed
for the public use, after having given at least twenty days' public notice
of the proposed conveyances; to control, protect, and maintain public
buildings, grounds, and property of the Town."
