(b) If any provision of this Act is held invalid, all valid pro-
visions that are severable from the invalid provision remain in effect.
If a provision is held invalid in one or more of its applications,
the provision remains in effect in all valid applications that are
severable from the invalid application or applications.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
six months after the date of its enactment but shall not apply to
consumer products manufactured prior to such effective date JAN-
UARY 1, 1973.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972 JANUARY 1, 1973.

CHAPTER 715
(House Bill 896)
AN ACT to add new Section 54F to Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement),
title "Health," subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," to follow im-
mediately after Section 54E thereof; to prohibit the manufacture,
sale or rental of toys designed to depict torture or to resemble an
instrument of torture; to establish the penalty therefor, and gen-
erally relating thereto.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 54F be and it is hereby added to Article 43 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and 1971
Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Miscellaneous Provisions," to
follow immediately after Section 54E thereof, and to read as follows:
54F.
(a) No person shall knowingly manufacture, sell, rent, or offer
for sale any toy which is designed to depict torture or resemble any
instrument specifically designed for torture, or which specifically
resembles a bomb or grenade.
(b) This section shall not apply to any model of an aircraft, ship,
motor vehicle, TOY GUN, railroad engine, car, or rocketship or other
spacecraft, or to any part or such model.
(c) Violation of this Section is a misdemeanor punishable by a
fine of not more than three hundred dollars ($300).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.
