CHAPTER 697
(House Bill 317)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 120(a)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Supple-
ment), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Restrictions Upon
Licensees," amending the alcoholic beverages laws of Allegany
County with particular respect to the age of employment and
duties of certain employees in licensed premises.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 120(a) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1971 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Re-
strictions Upon Licensees," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

120.

(a) In Allegany County it shall be [unlawful] lawful for any
licensee under this article to employ any person the age of eighteen
years or older,
BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 21 YEARS
([to sell or serve alcoholic beverages as a matter of employment, but
that person may prepare food, serve food, be a musician, entertain,
or act as a general help in the business] for the general purposes of
employment, but this person may not sell or serve alcoholic beverages.
IN ORDER TO BE PERMITTED TO SELL OR SERVE ALCO-
HOLIC BEVERAGES, A PERSON MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE
OR OLDER.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 698
(House Bill 378)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section SEC-
TIONS 133 AND 136(a) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Bever-
ages," subtitle "Taxation," and to add new Section 134(e) to said
Article, title and subtitle to follow immediately after Section 134(d)
thereof, increasing the rate of tax to be levied and collected on
WINE AND beer sold or delivered in this State; and providing
for the distribution of the additional tax levied ON BEER and the
administration and enforcement of the provisions of this Act.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section SECTIONS 133 AND 136(a) of Article 2B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic
Beverages," subtitle "Taxation," be and it is THEY ARE hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, ALL to read as follows:
