any excess contributions he has made refunded to him and pay the
amount of any shortage of contributions.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 596
(House Bill 1214)

AN ACT relating to the Washington Suburban Sanitary District,
repealing and re-enacting, with amendments, Section 71-38 of
the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition) and Section 83-89 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County, (1963
Edition), being Articles 16 and 17, respectively, of the Code of
Public Laws of Maryland, titled "Montgomery County" and
"Prince George's County," both subtitled "Washington Suburban
Sanitary District," as said sections were last amended by Chapter
703 of the Acts of 1968, to require Montgomery County, upon ap-
plication of a municipality, to maintain the storm drainage sys-
tems within the municipality.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 71-38 of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition)
and Section 83-89 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Articles 16 and 17, respec-
tively, of the Code of Public Laws of Maryland, titled "Montgomery
County" and "Prince George's County," both subtitled "Washington
Suburban Sanitary District," as said sections were last amended by
Chapter 703 of the Acts of 1968 be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows :

83-89.

For the purpose of laying out drainage districts within the Sanitary
Districts and for planning and designing works within the several
drainage districts, including the necessary preliminary expenses, and
for the purpose of maintaining said systems when constructed, the
Commission shall request the County Commissioners of Prince
George's County and, for that portion of the City of Takoma Park
lying within Montgomery County, request the County Commissioners
of Montgomery County to levy a direct ad valorem tax not exceeding
1 cent per $100.00 on all of the property assessed for County tax
purposes within the Sanitary District for storm drainage purposes
as herein denned and being within the respective Counties, and shall
request the County Commissioners of Prince George's County and,
for that portion of the City of Takoma Park lying within Mont-
gomery County, request the County Commissioners of Montgomery
County to levy an additional ad valorem tax at a rate to be certified
to said County Commissioners necessary to produce annually the sum
required to pay the principal and interest for the current year on the
outstanding bonds authorized by Section 83-88(71-37) of this subtitle.
