origin of the patient, and to provide for enforcement of the Section
by the Commission on Human Relations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 556C be and the same is hereby added to Article 43
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume),
title "Health," subtitle "Hospitals and Related Institutions," to follow
immediately after Section 556B thereof, and to read as follows:

556C.

No hospital or related institution may discriminate against any
patient, in providing personal care for the patient, because of the race,
creed, color, age, sex or national origin of the patient. The provisions
of this Section shall be enforced by the Commission on Human Rela-
tions as provided in Article 49B of this Code.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 603 of
Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume), title "Health," subtitle "Chronic Hospitals and Infirma-
ries," AND TO ENACT A NEW SECTION 603 IN LIEU THERE-
OF, TO STAND IN THE PLACE OF THE SECTION RE-
PEALED, and to add new Section 32A to Article 59 of the Code
(1968 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title "Mental
Hygiene," subtitle "Facilities," to follow immediately after Section
32 thereof, to establish a board of visitors CITIZENS ADVISORY
BOARD for each chronic hospital and each public MENTAL
HEALTH facility in the State WITH CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS;
to provide for the duties and responsibilities of each board; and
generally relating thereto.

NOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1971 REPLACEMENT VOL-
UME), TITLE "HEALTH," SUBTITLE "CHRONIC HOSPITALS
AND INFIRMARIES," ENACTED IN LIEU THEREOF TO
STAND IN THE PLACE OF THE SECTION REPEALED; and
that new Section 32A be and the same is hereby added to Article
59 of said Code (1968 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement),
title "Mental Hygiene," subtitle "Facilities," to follow immediately
after Section 32 thereof, and to read as follows:
