AN ACT to add new Section 122 (b) (5) to Article 43 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume), title
"Health," subtitle "Practitioners of Medicine," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 122 (b) (4) thereof, allowing certain para-
medics in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, ENGAGED
IN CARDIAC RESCUE PROGRAMS, upon meeting certain
standards set by the Board of Medical Examiners, to practice
medicine without a license; providing for the expiration of this
Act on June 30, 1975; and generally relating thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 122 (b) (5) be and it is hereby added to Article
43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume),
title "Health," subtitle "Practitioners of Medicine," to follow im-
mediately after Section 122 (b (4) thereof, and to read as follows:

122.

(b) (5) In Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, cardiac
CARDIAC rescue technicians defined as paramedics WHILE DE-
LIVERING EMERGENCY HEALTH CARE SERVICES UNDER
A CARDIAC RESCUE TECHNICIAN PROGRAM AND who:

(i) have successfully completed an advanced cardiac rescue tech-
nician course, the standards of which are set by the Board and
Commission;

(ii) are trained by licensed physicians and a registered nurse to
carry out all phases of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, to admin-
ister drugs via radio, telemetry, written, or oral authorization of
licensed physicians, and to administer intravenous solutions under
written or oral authorization of licensed physicians; and

(ii) (III) have been examined and certified as Cardiac Rescue
Technicians by licensed physicians of the Montgomery County Medi-

cal Society or the Prince George's County Medical Society THE

BOARD and will be recertified annually by same.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of para-
graph (5) THIS ACT shall not extend or apply after June 30, 1975.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.
