therein. , PROVIDING AN ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE
AIDE, AND GENERALLY CLARIFYING THE LANGUAGE
THEREIN.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (p) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), title
"Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and Duties," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

37.

(p) The Sheriff of Prince George's County shall receive an annual
salary of eighteen thousand dollars ($18,000) per year, be provided
with an automobile during his term as Sheriff for the use and work
of his office within said county, maintenance for said automobile to
be at the cost of the county and up to $1,500 ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,000) per year for expenses which are incurred for the
use and work of his office, an accounting of which expenses must be
submitted to the County Council for approval.
All full-time employees,
including deputy sheriffs, jail guards, and jail matrons, appointed
by the Sheriff or assigned to him by the County [Commissioners]
Council for IN THE BUDGET OF Prince George's County, shall be
subject to said county's merit system as to qualifications, compensa-
tion and other regulations, with the exception of one administrative
aide,
TWO ADMINISTRATIVE AIDES, who may be appointed by
the Sheriff. , and with the exception that all deputies shall hold the
permanent rank of deputy sheriff.
Deputy sheriffs employed prior to,
and still on duty as of June 1, 1967, shall be qualified and employed
under said county's merit system as to qualifications, compensation
and other regulations.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

(Senate Bill 189)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 240A,
B, and C of Article 48A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968
Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Insurance
Code," subtitle "Unfair Trade Practices"; to add new Section
240D to the same Article, title and subtitle; and to renumber the
present Sections 240D and E; to broaden the provisions relating
to notice of intention to cancel or not renew and to make certain
corrections therein; to require renewal billing notices; to broaden
the provisions and define the requirements relating to statements
of the actual reason for cancellation of, or refusal to issue or
renew; to clarify the responsibilities of the parties; to require
notice, to policyholders and applicants who may request the
