determining whether a building to be used to sell alcoholic bever-
ages is within 300 feet of any school, church or other place of
worship and therefore not eligible for licensing.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 (b) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," sub-
title "General Provisions on Issue of Licenses," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
49.
(b) In Charles County, the liquor board shall not approve any
license to sell alcoholic beverages in any building the nearest wall of
which measured in a direct line is within five hundred (500) feet of
the property line of any school, church or other place of worship,
provided, however, that this subsection shall not be applicable in the
event any school, church, or other place of worship locates its build-
ing within 500 feet of any licensed premises after the licensed prem-
ises are there established. In St. Mary's County, the liquor board
shall not approve any license to sell alcoholic beverages in any build-
ing the nearest wall of which measured in a direct line is within
three hundred (300) feet of the [property line] nearest point of the
main buildings of any school, church or other place of worship, pro-
vided, however, that this sentence shall not be applicable in the event
any school, church, or other place of worship locates its building
within 300 feet of any licensed premises after the licensed premises
are there established.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 30 of
Article 89 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement
Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Division of Labor and In-
dustry," subtitle "Occupational Safety," increasing the number of
inspectors responsible for the enforcement of safety codes relative
to amusement rides, devices and structures at carnivals, fairs,
amusement parks or other such areas, passenger and freight
elevators and hoists, TO REPEAL THE REQUIREMENT OF A
MINIMUM NUMBER OF CERTAIN INSPECTORS UNDER
THE COMMISSIONER OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY AND
GENERALLY RELATING THERETO, and correcting obsolete
references therein.
