(B) THE SALARY OF THE COUNSEL SHALL NOT EXCEED
THE SALARY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

(1)  THE COUNSEL TO THE BOARD IN BALTIMORE COUN-
TY SHALL RECEIVE SUCH ANNUAL COMPENSATION AS
MAY BE INCLUDED IN THE COUNTY BUDGET FROM TIME
TO TIME BUT, IN NO EVENT, TO BE LESS THAN $2,000 PER

ANNUM.

(2)  THE BOARD IN WICOMICO COUNTY SHALL HAVE
THE POWER TO EMPLOY AN ATTORNEY, WHO SHALL BE
A MEMBER OF THE BAR OF WICOMICO COUNTY AND WHO
SHALL ALSO BE THE ATTORNEY FOR THE JUDGES; AND
THE ATTORNEY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF
[$800] $1200 WHICH SHALL BE PAID IN EQUAL QUARTERLY
INSTALLMENTS BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF WICOMICO
COUNTY, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT IN THE EVENT OF
SPECIAL ELECTIONS OR SPECIAL SERVICES RENDERED,
THE COUNTY COUNCIL SHALL, AT THE REQUEST AND
RECOMMENDATION OF THE BOARD, ALLOW SUCH ADDI-
TIONAL COMPENSATION AS THEY MAY DEEM COMMEN-
SURATE WITH THE SPECIAL SERVICES RENDERED.

(3)  THE COUNSEL TO THE BOARD IN MONTGOMERY
COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $2,000;
PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT IN THE EVENT OF SPECIAL
ELECTIONS OR SPECIAL SERVICES RENDERED, THE
BOARD MAY ALLOW SUCH ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION
AS IT DEEMS COMMENSURATE WITH THE SPECIAL SERV-
ICES RENDERED.

(h) Wicomico County.—In Wicomico County the clerk of the board
shall receive an annual salary of [$800.00] $1200.00. There also
shall be a position of assistant clerk to the board with an annual
salary of [$500.00] $800.00. The salaries of the clerks shall be paid
in equal quarterly installments by the County Council of Wicomico
County; provided, however, that in the event of special elections or
special services rendered, the County Council shall, at the request
and recommendation of the board, allow additional compensation as
they may deem commensurate with the special services rendered.
There shall also be the position of secretary to the board, at a salary
and with such duties as established by the board from time to time.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
