700                                 Laws of Maryland                        [Ch. 342

28.

(a)    The county commissioners of the several counties shall re-
ceive three dollars per day for each day they shall be engaged in the
discharge of their duties, and mileage at the rate of ten cents for
every mile over five miles from their places of residence. [, except
the]

(b)    The following vary the above:

(1) The County Commissioners of Baltimore County [, who]
shall [have and] receive a salary of one thousand dollars per year
each, including mileage, payable monthly by the treasurer of [said]
that county; and [said] the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County [are hereby required and directed to] shall meet at their
office in the courthouse in Towson[,] on Tuesday and Wednesday
of each week, and to meet daily for the transaction of the public busi-
ness from the first Tuesday in March until after the annual levy is
made. [, except that]

(c)    The compensation for the County Commissioners of Talbot
County shall be as set forth in Article 21 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, [and]

(d)    The compensation for the County Commissioners of St.
Mary's County shall be as set forth in Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland.

(e)    The compensation for the County Commissioners of Carroll
County, as set forth in Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition, as amended), shall be in addition to the
above authorized expense monies.

(f)    The [Compensation] compensation for the County Commis-
sioners of Frederick County shall be as provided in the [local laws]
Code of Public Local Laws of the county in lieu of any compensation
or expenses provided for in this section.

(g)    The expense account allowance for the County Commission-
ers of Somerset County shall be as provided in Article 20 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (being those of Somerset County)
in lieu of any expenses for which provision was made by this section.

9.

There shall be five County Commissioners for Somerset County,
who shall hold office for four years, and until their successors shall
be elected and qualified. Each of [said] the commissioners shall re-
ceive an annual salary of $1,500.00 [in addition to the mileage which
may be allowed by law]. Also, there shall be an expense account for
each commissioner in the amount of $125.00 per month which shall
cover all expenses of each member, except for mileage and expenses
relating to out-of-County trips, and to be payable monthly in the
amount of $125.00.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
