thereof. The board or the State Administrative Board of Election
Laws shall not accept any certificate of candidacy unless the name
of the treasurer has been filed with it as provided in this subsection.

(2) No member of the State Administrative Board of Election
Laws, member of any board, or any permanent, part-time, or tem-
porary employee of either shall be a treasurer, sub-treasurer, or
political agent of any candidate, combination of candidates, or politi-
cal committee during any part of his tenure in office or employment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on June JULY 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 267
(House Bill 16)

AN ACT to add new Section 1A-1(g) to Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supple-
ment), title "Election Code," subtitle "State Administrative Board
of Election Laws," to follow immediately after Section 1A-1(f)
thereof, to require the State Administrative Board of Election
Laws to conduct meetings of the members of the local election
boards, designated employees and counsels in the State prior to
the holding of elections, to provide for the purpose of these meet-
ings, and for the compensation of such persons attending the
meetings.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 1A-1(g) be and it is hereby added to Article 33
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume and
1970 Supplement), title "Election Code," subtitle "State Adminis-
trative Board of Election Laws," to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 1A-1 (f) thereof, and to read as follows:

1A-1.

(g) In each year preceding any year in which a primary and
general election is to be held in the State, the State Administrative
Board of Election Laws shall conduct
a meeting MEETINGS of the
members of the Boards in the State. It shall be mandatory for those
members of the Boards, the principal administrative officers of the
Boards and the Counsel for the Boards who are designated by the
State Administrative Board to attend the meeting AT LEAST
ONE OF THE MEETINGS. The meeting MEETINGS shall be
held at a time and place and continue for such period of time as
determined by the State Administrative Board. The purpose of the
meeting MEETINGS shall be to instruct the members of the Boards,
designated employees and counsel as to their duties in the conduct of
elections. Each member of the Boards, other employees or counsels
who shall attend the meeting MEETINGS shall be paid an expense
allowance of $25.00 for each day of the meeting attended and shall be
