after Section 189 thereof, to allow the Board of Commissioners of
Calvert County to borrow funds for construction of public library
buildings, and to issue bonds, notes or other evidence of indebted-
ness, and to levy taxes for payments of principal and interest.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 189A be and it is hereby added to Article 77 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title
"Public Education," subtitle "Public Libraries," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 189 thereof, to read as follows:

189 A.

The Board of County Commissioners of Calvert County may borrow
funds for paying part or all of the capital construction costs of
public library buildings in Calvert County; and they may issue bonds,
notes, or other evidence of indebtedness for the repayment of any
such borrowed funds, and may levy for payments of principal and of
interest on these evidences of indebtedness.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 199
(House Bill 1241)

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners of
Charles County to borrow upon the faith and credit of Charles
County an amount not exceeding Five Hundred Thousand Dollars
($500,000), and to issue bonds therefor, for the cost of court house
repairs, alterations, and/or additions with emphasis on construc-
tion of new district court facilities and providing for the levy of
taxes in Charles County for the payment of principal and interest
on such bonds and dependent for its effect upon referendum.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Charles County be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to borrow at one time, or from
time to time, on the faith and credit of Charles County, a sum or
sums not exceeding in the aggregate Five Hundred Thousand Dollars
($500,000) and to issue and sell bonds therefor, the proceeds thereof
to be used for the cost of court house repairs, alterations and/or
additions with emphasis on construction of new district court facili-
ties in Charles County and to pay all expenses, including advertising,
printing, and legal fees, incurred in the issuance and sale of any
bonds hereunder, the said amount so borrowed to be used for no
other purpose whatsoever.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That said County Commis-
sioners shall by proper resolution fix the maturity or maturities of
any such bonds, provided however, that no bonds issued shall mature
