CHAPTER 108
(House Bill 46)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 31(b) of
Article 9 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1970 Supplement),
title "Attachments," subtitle "Attachments of Wages or Hire,"
amending the laws of this State concerning attachments in order to
correct certain language and references therein.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 31(b) of Article 9 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1970 Supplement), title "Attachments," subtitle "Attachments of
Wages or Hire," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments to read as follows:
31.
(b) No employer may discharge any employee by reason of the
fact that his earnings have been subjected to garnishment on any
one occasion within a calendar year and whoever wilfully violates
this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine
of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and/or impris-
oned not exceeding one year.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act take effect July 1,
1971.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 21A of
Article 5 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement),
title "Appeals," subtitle "Appeals to Court of Appeals and Court of
Special Appeals," subheading "Certiorari," amending the laws of
this State concerning Appeals to the Court of Appeals and Court
of Special Appeals to correct certain language and references
therein.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 21A of Article 5 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Supplement) title "Appeals," subtitle "Appeals to Court of
Appeals and Court of Special Appeals," subheading "Certiorari," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments and to
read as follows:
21A.
In any case or proceeding in which a decision has been rendered
by the Court of Special Appeals upon appeal from the circuit court
of any county, the Criminal Court of Baltimore, or one of the law or
equity courts of Baltimore City, if it shall be made to appeal
