2512                               County Local Laws

Section 204

Each member of the County Council (except the Chairman) .shall be
paid for the performance of his duties as provided in this Charter the sum
of [Twenty-One Hundred Dollars ($2,100.00)] Four Thousand Dollars
($4,000.00)
per annum; the Chairman shall be paid Five Thousand Dol-
lars ($5,000.00) per annum.
Such salary shall be in full compensation
for all services required by law or by this Charter to be performed by the
members of the County Council. No member of the County Council shall
be entitled to any other allowance of any kind, except that, subject to
approval of the Council he may be allowed his actual necessary expenses
incurred in representing the County beyond the geographical boundaries
thereof.

Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That at the next
general election to be held in this State on November 3, 1970, the foregoing
section hereby proposed as an amendment to the Charter of Anne Arundel
County, shall be submitted to the legal and qualified voters of Anne Arun-
del County for their adoption or rejection pursuant to Section 1202 of
the Charter of Anne Arundel County and at the said general election, the
vote on the said proposed amendments to the Charter shall be by ballot;
and upon each ballot there shall be printed the words "For the Charter
Amendment" and "Against the Charter Amendment." If a majority of
the votes cast in said election shall be in favor of the proposed amendment,
such amendment shall stand adopted from and after the thirtieth (30th)
day following said election; but if a majority of the votes cast in the elec-
tion shall be against the proposed amendment, then the provisions of this
ordinance shall be null and void and of no effect.

Bill No. 37-70

An Ordinance to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Bill No.
49-68 (having been previously codified as Section 17-705 of the Anne
Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 17,
"Taxation," Subtitle 7, "Miscellaneous Taxes") re-enacting and
codifying the recordation tax, and making the provisions of this bill
retroactive to July 1, 1968.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Bill No, 49-68 (having
been previously codified as Section 17-705 of the Anne Arundel County
Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 17, "Taxation," Subtitle 7,
"Miscellaneous Taxes") be, and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

Section 17-705

Pursuant [pursuant] to the provisions of Section 227 of Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, as last amended by Chapter 452 of the
Acts of 1968, the rate of Tax applicable to instruments recorded with the
Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County shall be as follows:

(1) In the case of instruments conveying title to property, the tax
shall be paid at a rate of $3.50 for each $500.00, or fractional part thereof,
of the actual consideration paid or to be paid; in the case of instruments
