2-49. Services and facilities.
The chief administrative officer shall make available to the department
of inspection and licenses the services and facilities of other departments
and agencies of the county government to the extent he deems necessary
adequately to carry out the functions of the department of inspection and
licenses.
Section 9. Section 2-50, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-50. Established; appointment, etc., of librarian.
There is hereby established a department of public libraries under
the immediate direction of a professionally qualified and experienced li-
brarian. The recommendations of the Montgomery County Library Board
hereinafter established shall be received and considered by the county
executive before a librarian is appointed.
Section 10. Section 2-52, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-52. Library board-Established; composition; term of members.
There is hereby established a Montgomery County Library Board
composed of seven members to be appointed, subject to the confirmation
of the county council, by the county executive from the county at large.
The supervisor of school libraries shall be an ex-officio member of such
board. Of the members originally appointed, one-third, as nearly as may
be, shall be appointed for a term of two years; one-third for a term of
four years; and one-third for a term of six years and successors shall be
appointed for terms of six years; except, that in case of an appointment
to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of any term, the successor
shall be appointed for the remainder of such term.
Section 11. Section 2-53, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-53. Same-Powers and duties generally; recommendations.
The library board shall have authority on its own motion, or on
reference from the county executive, to inquire into matters affecting the
county public library system including the acquisition and location of new
library facilities, the adequacy of book collections, services to outlying
districts and personnel needs of the department of libraries, and to make
recommendations thereon to the county executive.
Section 12. Section 2-56, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2-56. Same-Services and facilities.
The chief administrative officer is authorized to make available to the
library board such services and facilities of the county government as may
be necessary to carry out its functions.
Section 13. Section 2-57, Chapter 2, title "Administration," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
