tion on running motor vehicle engines under certain conditions; and
providing enforcement procedures.

Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17, of the Maryland Con-
stitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 521.
This bill prohibits certain smoke emissions from motor vehicles.
House Bill 533, which was enacted by the General Assembly and signed
by me on May 24, 1971, is similar to Senate Bill 521 and accomplishes
the same purpose. Therefore, it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 521.

Senate Bill No. 527—Workmen's Compensation for Firefighters
AN ACT to add new Section 103 64A to Article 101 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Workmen's Com-
pensation," SUBTITLE "MISCELLANEOUS," to follow immediately
after Section 103 64 thereof and to be under the new subtitle "Death
and Disability Payments—Fire Fighters," to establish certain medi-
cal conditions where the death or disability of a fire fighter is
presumed to be accidental and as a result of his employment.
COMPENSABLE UNDER THIS ARTICLE AND CONCERNING
RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR DISABLED FIRE FIGHTERS.
