and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:
46.
(a) In Anne Arundel County no new license shall be granted
to sell alcoholic beverages in any building located within one thousand
(1,000) feet [in a straight line] from entry to entry from a church
or school (the said one thousand feet is to be measured from the
front door or main entrance, whichever is nearest the street abutting
the premises, of the proposed licensed establishment along the nearest
usual pedestrian route to the door closest to the licensed premises
which is used as an entrance or exit to any school, or to the main
entrance of the church building,) but the license of any person now
holding a license for any building located within such distance of the
grounds of a church or school may be renewed or extended for the
same building. This section does not apply to the City of Annapolis.
This section shall not apply to any transfer or assignment of a
license located within such distance.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

(House Bill 686)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 100(a)
of Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 SUPPLE-
MENT), title "Evidence," subtitle "Chemical Tests for Intoxica-
tion," providing that certain police employees are qualified to
operate equipment used to test for alcoholic content of blood,
breath or urine in cases of persons suspected of driving under the
influence.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 100(a) of Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Supplement), title "Evidence," subtitle "Chemical Tests for
Intoxication," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
100.
(a) In any criminal prosecution for a violation of Sec. 206 of
Article 66½ of this Code (1957 Edition, as amended from time to
time) or for a violation of any other law of this State concerning a
person who is under the influence of intoxicating liquor driving or
attempting to drive any vehicle as specified in the other laws, the
person may be given a chemical test of his breath, blood or urine or
