will provide renewal coverage on this basis. The renewal coverage
provided for in this section will continue on a year to year basis.]

Any insured under the plan as of January 1, 1970 who has com-
pleted any three year assignment period, and who during that period
has had no moving traffic violations, except one point, or traffic acci-
dents for which he or any usual AUTHORIZED operator was held
responsible, is entitled to renewal coverage from the assigned insurer
at rates comparable to those charged by standard insurers and ap-
proved by the Commissioner. It is the responsibility of the assigned
insurer to notify the insured that the company will provide renewal
coverage on this basis. The renewal coverage provided for in this
section will continue on a year to year basis.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 751
(House Bill 1377)

AN ACT to repeal Section 40 (e) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law and
Attorneys In Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," and to enact new
Section 40 (e) in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section
repealed, to provide for the salary of the State's Attorney in Cal-
vert County, the appointment of an Assistant State's Attorney,
AND the salary for the assistant and his powers, and the expenses
of the State's Attorney's office.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(e) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law and Attorneys In Fact,"
subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed, and that
new Section 40(e) be and it is hereby enacted in-lieu thereof, to stand
in the place of the section repealed, to read as follows:

40.

(e) [In Calvert County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500.00). From time to
time as may be deemed wise or necessary the judge of the Circuit
Court of Calvert County may appoint a temporary assistant State's
attorney for a particular case or series of cases and may fix his
compensation.

(2) The Commissioners of Calvert County shall furnish the
State's Attorney a secretary but shall not pay or reimburse him for
any other expenses.]

In Calvert County the State's Attorney's salary is twelve thousand
five hundred dollars ($12,500.00). He may, with the approval of the
County Commissioners, appoint an assistant whose salary shall be
set by the Commissioners, but shall not exceed $6,000.00 per annum.
