THIS ARTICLE AND TO CHANGE THE EXEMPTIONS
THEREFROM, SUBJECT TO A CERTAIN CONTINGENCY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 21(b) and 21(c) of Article 101 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), as
amended by Chapter 741 of the Acts of 1970, be and they are hereby
repealed and re enacted with amendments; and that a new Section

35(c-1) be and it is hereby added to said Article and subtitle of the

Code, to follow immediately after Section 35(c) thereof, and all to

read as follows:

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
OF MARYLAND,
THAT SECTIONS 21 (B) AND 21 (C) OF
ARTICLE 101 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND
(1964 REPLACEMENT VOLUME AND 1970 SUPPLEMENT AS
AMENDED BY CHAPTER 741 OF THE ACTS OF 1970 AND

CHAPTER........ (HOUSE BILL 105) OF THE ACTS OF 1971),

TITLE "WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION," SUBTITLE "AP-
PLICATION OF ARTICLE; EXTRA-HAZARDOUS EMPLOY-
MENTS," ARE HEREBY REPEALED AND THAT NEW SEC-
TIONS 21 (B) AND 21 (C) BE AND THEY ARE HEREBY
ADDED IN LIEU THEREOF, TO STAND IN THE PLACE OF
THE SECTIONS SO REPEALED, AND ALL TO READ AS
FOLLOWS:

21.

(b) Coverage of Employees. The following shall constitute em-

ployees subject to the provisions of this Act, except as exempted

under subsection (c) of this section:

(1) Every person, including a minor, whether lawfully or unlwa-

fully employed, in the service of an employer under any contract of

hire or apprenticeship, express or implied, and all helpers and assist-
ants of employees whether paid by the employer or employee, if
employed with the knowledge, actual or constructive, of the employer.

(2) Every officer of the corporation rendering services for said
corporation for monetary remuneration.

(3) Any employer, partner or sole proprietor electing coverage
under the
provisions of Section 67(4) of this Article.

(B) COVERAGE OF EMPLOYEES. THE FOLLOWING
SHALL CONSTITUTE EMPLOYEES SUBJECT TO THE PRO-
VISIONS OF THIS ACT, EXCEPT AS EXEMPTED UNDER
SUBSECTION (C) OF THIS SECTION:

(1) EVERY PERSON, INCLUDING A MINOR, WHETHER
LAWFULLY OR UNLAWFULLY EMPLOYED, IN THE SERVICE
OF AN EMPLOYER UNDER ANY CONTRACT OF HIRE OR
APPRENTICESHIP, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND ALL
HELPERS AND ASSISTANTS OF EMPLOYEES WHETHER
PAID BY THE EMPLOYER OR EMPLOYEE, IF EMPLOYED
WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, ACTUAL OR CONSTRUCTIVE, OF
THE EMPLOYER.
