AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 336(b),
SECTION 336(D) AND SECTION 336(H) of Article 9 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County (1969 Edition, being
Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Charles County," subtitle "Parks and Recreation," changing the
number of appointments to the Board of Parks and Recreation to
be made by the Governor and deleting certain confusing and un-
necessary language terms., CHANGING THE AMOUNT OF
MONEY THAT THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY AP-
PROPRIATE TO THE BOARD OF PARKS AND RECREA-
TION ANNUALLY FROM NOT LESS THAN $40,000 TO AN
UNSPECIFIED AMOUNT, AND REQUIRING THE BOARD
OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO SUBMIT AN ANNUAL
BUDGET AND AN ANNUAL CERTIFIED AUDIT TO THE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AT SPECIFIED TIMES.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 336(b), SECTION 336(D) AND SECTION 336(H)
of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Charles County
(1969 Edition, being Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Charles County," subtitle "Parks and Recreation,"
be and it is THEY ARE hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments and to read as follows:
336.
(b) The Board shall consist of seven members of whom one
shall be selected by the Board of Education of Charles County, one
TWO shall be selected by the County Commissioners, one by the Phys-
ical Fitness Commission, one by the Charles County Chamber of Com-
merce, and [four] three by the Governor. All members of the
Board shall be appointed for four years from the first day of January
of the year of their appointments, or until their successors are
appointed. [The members of the Board, when first appointed,
shall be divided into three classes, two of the members being in
each of two classes and three members in a third class. The initial
terms of those in the first class shall be four years; of those in the
second class, three years; and of those in the third class, two
years.] Vacancies, except those at the expiration of a term, shall be
filled in the same manner as the original appointments and for the
unexpired term. All members of the Board shall serve without
compensation, except that they may be reimbursed for necessary
and proper expenses incurred while performing their duties thereon.
(D) THE BOARD WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, MAY ACCEPT REAL AND PERSONAL
PROPERTY OF ALL KINDS, SUITABLE FOR PUBLIC PARKS,
OPEN SPACE PROGRAMS, AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES,
LEGAL TITLE TO WHICH SHALL ALWAYS BE IN THE BOARD
OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. THE COUNTY COMMISSION-
ERS SHALL APPROPRIATE IN THE ANNUAL BUDGET OF
THE COUNTY [NOT LESS THAN $40,000] A SUM OF MONEY
TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF THE BOARD, TO PAY THE
SALARY OF THE DIRECTOR, TO PURCHASE LAND, CON-
