examinations for appointment. All such credit shall be allowed
only in determining the standing on the certification of eligibles
of said veteran.

(d) The same preference extended disabled veterans shall be
given to wives of such veterans as have themselves been unable
to qualify for merit system appointment because of disability, and
to the unmarried widows of deceased veterans who had served in
any branch of the armed forces of the United States as aforesaid;
such war veterans under fifty-five years of age granted preference
shall be released from age limitation, except for positions of police-
men and firemen. Such war veterans having qualified with all such
credits shall be certified for appointment, employment, reinstate-
ment or reemployment before nonveterans with the same or lower
examination score.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 584
(House Bill 995)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 135 (b)
of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax,"
to add other special fuels to the definitions of motor vehicle fuel.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 135 (b) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Motor
Vehicle Fuel Tax," be and is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

135.

(b) "Motor Vehicle Fuel" means and includes' gasoline, casing
head or natural gasoline, benzol, benzine, naphtha, gas, substances
or energy regardless of
its composition or properties and any other
liquid prepared, advertised, offered for sale, sold for use as, or used
for, the generation of power for the propulsion of motor vehicles,
and Diesel oil, oil or other liquids used in Diesel engines or in internal
combustion engines for the propulsion of motor vehicles, including
any product obtained by blending together any one or more products
of petroleum, with or without other products, if the resultant product
is capable of such use.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
