(b) Every license issued by the Commission shall be [an annual]
a biennial license and shall expire [annually] on the 30th day of April
in [each] biennially year or on such other day as the Commission
may select.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 286 of
Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and Fish-
eries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," amending the laws
concerning the use of nets in certain portions of the Chesapeake
Bay in order to increase the total length of net permissible.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 286 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1970 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish
and Fisheries," subheading "Part 2. Tidal Waters," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
286.
It shall be unlawful for any person to use nets of any kind in the
waters in that part of the Chesapeake Bay which lies between a
straight line drawn from Drum Point Lighthouse in Calvert County
to Hog Island in St. Mary's County, and a straight line drawn from
Cove Point Lighthouse in Calvert County to Cedar Point Lighthouse
in St. Mary's County, nearer than 500 yards in every direction
from any other net, or any net of a total length of more than [175]
550 yards including the leaders or hedges or wings thereof, or at a
greater distance than one-fourth the distance across the waters above-
mentioned at low water mark on either side.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.
