in the method of determining the amount of financial assistance
granted to the several counties or Baltimore City for any junior
college project.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 5 (2) (c) of Chapter 27 of the Laws of Maryland
1964 be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
5 (2).
(c) The amount of financial assistance granted to any one or more
counties or to the City of Baltimore under the terms and conditions
of this Act for any junior college project is determined by the sum
of [Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00)] six thousand dollars
($6,000.00) times the proposed capacity of the college in numbers
of students, subject to the limitation that State funds will not exceed
one-half of the total construction cost of any junior college project.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 704 (c)
of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Places of Refor-
mation and Punishment," subheading "Department of Correctional
Services," to provide that the Department of Correctional Serv-
ices shall have authority to require that political subdivisions
accept transfer of prisoners from any jail which has been closed
by the jail programming and inspection officer, and to correct
obsolete language.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 704 (c) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle
"Places of Reformation and Punishment," subheading "Department
of Correctional Services," be and it is hereby repealed and re-en-
acted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(c) At least annually, the officer or his designated representative
shall inspect the regional detention and correctional centers, the sev-
eral county and Baltimore City jails, lockups, jail farms and other
such places of detention. The officer will submit a report to the county
commissioners of the several counties and the mayor and city council
of Baltimore, showing the results of such inspection together with
recommendations as to any improvements or construction which
