CHAPTER 273
(Senate Bill 313)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 363 (c)
of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Governor—Executive and Administrative Depart-
ments," subtitle "State of Maryland Office of Economic Oppor-
tunity," to provide that employees of the Office of Economic Oppor-
tunity who are eligible for transfer to the State Merit System, and
who have held their positions for at least six months shall be
transferred without examination and under the respective job
classification in which employed at the time of transfer.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 363 (c) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Supplement), title "Governor—Executive and Adminis-
trative Departments," subtitle "State of Maryland Office of Economic
Opportunity," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

363.

(c) The Office may employ professional, technical, clerical, steno-
graphic, and other personnel to carry out its duties and functions
within the limits of budgetary appropriations from time to time.
The employees of the Office, except the Director and Deputy Director,
shall be subject to the provisions contained in Article 64A of the
Code, title "Merit System." Any employee of the Office who is
eligible for transfer to the State Merit System, and who has held
his position for at least six (6) months, shall be so transferred with-
out further probation, examination, or qualification. An employee
transferred to the State Merit System, pursuant to this act shall be
transferred in the respective job classification under which he is
employed at the time of transfer and shall not receive any diminu-
tion in compensation and/or respective amounts of accumulated
leave or sick leave, solely as a result of this transfer.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 274
(Senate Bill 316)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 81(f) of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replace-
ment Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles,"
subtitle "Administration—Registration—Titling," to increase the
maximum gross weight limits of farm trucks that may benefit
from lower registration fees.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
