(9) Bailiffs in Frederick County shall each receive seventy-five
dollars ($75.00) per month.
(10) Bailiffs in Queen Anne's [and Caroline counties] County
shall each receive seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) per day.
(11) Bailiffs in Charles County shall receive an amount per day
to be determined by the county commissioners and approved by the
Circuit Court of Charles County, not to exceed, however, the amount
paid to jurors.
(12) Bailiffs in St. Mary's, Somerset, Worcester and Kent coun-
ties shall each receive ten dollars ($10.00) per day.
(13) Bailiffs in Dorchester County shall receive ten dollars
($10.00) for each day they attend the Circuit Court.
(14) Bailiffs in Caroline County shall each receive ten dollars
($10.00) per day.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 59
(House Bill 470)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(t)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and
Duties," increasing the annual salary of the Sheriff of Talbot
County and making provision for the effectiveness of this Act.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37(t) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compen-
sation and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(t) Talbot County.—In Talbot County the Sheriff shall receive
an annual salary of [$6,500] $10,000 and he may receive no other
money or compensation, directly or indirectly, from the county
or any other political subdivision. He may appoint, subject to the
approval of the County Commissioners of the county, such deputies
as he may deem necessary and at such compensation as the County
Commissioners of the county may fix prior to such appointment.
These shall be continuing powers. Provided further that in Talbot
County there shall always be night personnel attached to the Sher-
iff's office and the office shall be operated on a 24-hour daily basis.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall be
construed to affect the compensation for the sheriff who is in office
