In the absence or incapacity of the treasurer of Harford County,
for any reason, the deputy treasurer shall have full right, power
and authority and it shall be the duty of said deputy treasurer, to
sign and execute any instruments and to otherwise act for and in
behalf of the said treasurer of Harford County with full authority
and in all matters pertaining to the office of said treasurer.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
Treasurer of Harford County in office on the effective date of this
Act, but shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term
of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 143
(Senate Bill 831)
AN ACT to add new Section 183A to the Code of Public Local
Laws of St. Mary's County (1965 Edition, being Article 19 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's
County," subtitle "Schools," to follow immediately after Section
183 thereof, to provide for a salary for the legal counsel to the
St. Mary's County Board of Education.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 183A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County (1965 Edition, being Article
19 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "St. Mary's
County," subtitle "Schools," to follow immediately after Section 183
thereof, and to read as follows:
188A.
The attorney at law who represents the St. Mary's County Board
of Education as legal counsel in legal matters affecting the board shall
receive an annual salary of twelve hundred dollars ($1200) which
shall be his sole compensation for legal services rendered the board.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.
