board of directors may declare a dividend to be paid from the re-
maining net earnings. Such dividend shall be paid on all paid-up
shares outstanding at the end of the period for which the dividend
is declared. Shares which become fully paid up during such dividend
period and are outstanding at the close of the period shall be entitled
to a proportional part of such dividend. Dividend credit for a month
may be accrued on shares which are or become fully paid up during
the first five days of that month.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 136

(Senate Bill 722)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 25 (a)
of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualification and Selection
of Jurors," to increase the daily pay of jurors who attend the
Circuit Court of Frederick County, and to correct an error therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 25 (a) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Juries," subtitle "Qualifica-
tion and Selection of Jurors," be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

25.

(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive eight dollars per
day and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the County Com-
missioners for each mile over five miles in going to and returning
from court; in Queen Anne's and Caroline counties, seven dollars
and fifty cents per day; in Anne Arundel, Harford, Kent, Mont-
gomery and Somerset counties, and in Baltimore City, ten dollars
per day, and no extra allowance shall be given either for mileage
or overtime in Anne Arundel, Harford, Montgomery and Somerset
counties and in Baltimore City; in Carroll County, eight dollars per
day; in Prince George's and Charles counties, jurors shall receive
per diem compensation, not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more
than ten ($10.00) dollars, in such amounts as shall be set, from time
to time, by the judges of the circuit court for said county and in
all other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Calvert, Frederick,
Garrett, Harford, Howard, St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five
dollars per day for each and every day they shall attend the several
courts of this State as jurors and fifteen cents for each mile over
five miles for going to and returning from the court, once in each
term, to be paid by the counties, respectively, in which courts are
held. In Baltimore County, jurors shall receive per diem compensa-
tion in such amount as shall be set, from time to time, by the judges
of the Circuit Court of Baltimore County. Jurors in Frederick
County shall [recive] receive [at least eight dollars] fifteen dollars
