2-79. Generally.

(a)    Established; director generally. There is hereby established a
department of economic development under the immediate direction of a
director of economic development.

(b)    Functions. The department shall have the following functions:
Organize a broad range of factual information about the economy, society,
government and other aspects of Montgomery County pertinent to the
economic development thereof; undertake studies of economic development
opportunities available in the county and make the information available
to interested persons; provide information and assistance to persons
or organizations interested in locating business and industry in Mont-
gomery County; furnish information and assistance concerning public
utilities, zoning, natural resources, transportation, education and other
subjects of interest to businesses and industry located or considering loca-
tion in the county; establish and maintain a comprehensive information
and research program, including the preparation and editing of research
and information material on county activities and programs, handling of
complaints and requests for information on county activities, assisting
the county executive in the preparation of an annual report; and such
other functions as may be prescribed by law.

(c)    Economic development advisory committee. The council is hereby
authorized to adopt resolutions appointing and designating the functions
of a county economic development advisory committee.

Section 18. Section 2-80, Chapter 2, title "Administration" of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2-80. Established; director; bond.

There is hereby established a department of general services under
the immediate direction of a director of general services. The director of
general services shall furnish a bond to the director of finance in such
penalty as may now or hereafter be prescribed for the director of finance,
with surety to be approved by the county executive, conditioned that the
director of general services will furnish the director of finance through
the division of data processing, any and all necessary information and
services within the period or periods prescribed by law.

Section 19. Section 2-81, Chapter 2, title "Administration" of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2-81. Composition; functions.

The department of general services shall be composed of the following
divisions and shall have such functions and activities as may hereafter
be prescribed by law.

Section 20. Section 2-82, Chapter 2, title "Administration" of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2-82. Civil defense advisory board.

(a) Continued; composition, etc. The Montgomery County civil de-
fense advisory board is hereby continued and shall be composed of such
members as the county executive may appoint, subject to the confirmation
