2576                               Municipal Charters

(2)    The applicant shall be required to demonstrate his ability to
comprehend and interpret plans and drawings showing the arrangement
of gas fixtures, etc.

(3)    He shall be expected to be familiar with the provisions of this
Subtitle, applicable provisions of Anne Arundel County Building Code,
the rules and regulations of the Anne Arundel County Health Department
and the Maryland State Department of Health applicable to gas fitting
work.

(c)    The Commission shall require written answers to appropriate
questions on the aforegoing subjects and may, in its discretion require an
actual demonstration of the applicant's ability to properly perform gas
fitting work by requiring him to actually perform such work as it may
prescribe.

The Commission may, in its discretion, waive the requirement of a
written examination for a Journeyman or Restricted Journeyman Gas
Fitter's License only and may in lieu thereof submit the applicant to an
oral examination together with an actual demonstration of his ability
to properly perform gas fitting work.

(d)    In order to qualify for a license, the applicant shall, if examined
in writing, correctly answer at least 70% of the questions propounded.
If an applicant for Journeyman or Restricted Journeyman Gas Fitter's
License shall fail to answer 70% of the questions correctly the Commission
may, nevertheless, in its discretion, examine the applicant orally and re-
quire an actual demonstration on his ability to properly perform gas fitting
work, and if the Commission is thereafter satisfied as to the applicant's
qualifications, it may grant the License applied for.

Section 12-1915

In addition to the payment of any license fee, each Master or Re-
stricted Gas Fitter, unless already bonded by a Master Plumber's Bond,
Master Electrician's Bond, or Restricted Electrician's Bond, shall file with
the Director a penal bond to the county in the sum of one thousand
($1,000.00) dollars, conditioned upon the faithful performance of any and
all work entered upon or contracted by the licensee and to save harmless
the owner or any party in interest in any property for which any material
is furnished or service performed, against any loss, damage or injury which
shall arise through want of skill or through the failure of the said licensee,
his agents and employees to use suitable or proper materials in the per-
formance of any work contracted for, done or undertaken by said licensee,
his agents and employees, and shall indemnify and save harmless Anne
Arundel County, Maryland, its successors or assigns from any and all
damages, injuries, losses, expenses and costs to which it may be subjected
by reason of any wrongdoing, misconduct, lack of care or skill, improper
materials, negligence or default upon the part of the said licensee, his
agent and employees in carrying on a gas fitting business.

Section 12-1916

(a) The following charges shall be made to cover the cost of
examinations:

(1)  For a Master or Restricted Gas Fitter License ..................$10.00

(2)   For a Journeyman or Restricted Journeyman Gas

Fitter License ............................................................$ 5.00
